SPA RANGE: Understanding your responsibility

As a responsible operator, it is your responsibility to keep users safe.

Important: Ensuring user safety and water hygiene is the responsibility of the venue operator. While Brass Monkey offers guidance as recommendations, operators must conduct their own risk assessments. Brass Monkey does not accept responsibility for the actions of users or venue staff. It is crucial to always adhere to local regulatory health, safety, and water hygiene directives where they exist.

Responsible Operator Safety Standards

We love cold water and believe passionately about the benefits it brings to millions around the globe. However, the extreme cold needs to be respected. Our ice baths are capable of creating arctic cold conditions and at a high enough dose (time x temperature) freezing cold water will reliably kill you. That’s why it’s challenging.

As a responsible operator you'll want to ensure a safe and healthy culture around the use of the ice baths by guests and its maintenance by staff.

Along with helping users stay safe when entering extreme cold water, as a responsible operator it is essential you focus on your protocols to uphold water hygiene standards.

To help you keep users safe, we're prepared two types of recommendation:

  • User Safety (how to prepare, dip and warm-up) - written for those entering the cold water
  • Water Hygiene (how to keep the water clean) - written for those operating the ice bath

All guidance recommendations provided is for the operator to adopt, amend and implement in a style appropriate to your venue, user-base and culture. The operator should always be adjusting protocols based on levels of usage and the data they are seeing from regular observation and testing.

Our recommendations may change from time to time based on emerging data, regulation and learnings from extreme cold water operators around the globe. As a provider of cold water products at your venue, it is crucial that you comprehend your liability and responsibility for ensuring the safety of your members and guests.
